Bowling Green, Kentucky Through the Eyes of Leon Garrett 1948-1951
Leon Garrett LEON GARRETT was a young man when he took the dozens of slides of Bowling Green sites that you can explore on this web page. They were familiar scenes to him and ones that evoked a sense of a progressive college town from 1948 to 1951. The focus of the slides are: downtown Bowling Green street scenes, views of Western Kentucky University buildings and landscapes, slides of the train yards near the Bowling Green depot, airplanes and facilities at the city’s airport, and shots of industrial sites around the community.

Photos: Leon Garrett at the time that he took the photographs in the early 1950s and a contemporary photograph taken around 2008 at Western Kentucky University’s old stadium.
