Courtney Ellis Collection

Courtney M. Ellis, 1888-1964, was born in the small river town of Woodbury, Kentucky. He had a lifelong love affair with Kentucky's Green River. From age nine until his death, he exhibited his devotion either by working on the boats or by collecting river-oriented data. Of the approximate 3500 photographs in the collection, the majority focus on the steamboats that plied the various rivers.
