Bridesmaid's Dress, ca. 1906
China silk, made by the Sumpter Sisters, Bowling Green, Kentucky
Kentucky Museum Collection #4113
Item/Collection Note: Lillie and Mattie Sumpter of Bowling Green, Kentucky competed with the more established Mrs. Carrie (A. H.) Taylor for the dressmaking business of the students who attended Pleasant J. Potter College for Young Ladies. There is some evidence that the sisters worked for Mrs. Taylor before starting their own business.
Gift of: John Dallas Gregory Estate
