The
South Union, Kentucky, Shakers in Logan County provided a
number of services for their own use and for the benefit of
"the world", including fulling cloth. Fulling involves
cleansing and shrinking fabric, usually woolens, before it
is finished. This broadside provides "instructions for
the information and benefit of Domestic Manufacturers in Woolen
Cloths" and a list of stores in Kentucky and Tennessee
that accepted the fabric for the Shakers. This 1815 advertisement
also explains how customers were to wrap and identify their
bundles for delivery. |
