Illustrative
Materials
Ever heard someone say, "a picture is worth a thousand
words." In the Kentucky Library, pictures are found in
places you might not consider. A set of paper dolls printed
in 1857 (the earliest known) and many others transport you
into childhood of yesteryear. Cartoons teach us humor and
politics. Greeting cards, advertisements, sewing patterns,
fashion illustrations, stationery, and menus show design trends
and lend color to our past.
Numerous indexes containing graphic images filed by subject,
often denoting form and origin, may be used in-house. Many
illustrative materials may be duplicated, depending upon form
and condition of the item.
