Organization

Here we introduce the wealth of objects and words available when you visit the Kentucky Library & Museum.

Your time is valuable. So we provide brief online descriptions to acquaint you with some of our collections. As is true elsewhere in this site, we hope to add more information. If your favorite topic is not represented, contact us. Chances are – we have something that will be of interest to you.

We house many special collections with unique handling and storage needs. In many cases, a particular member of our staff may be the most knowledgeable person to assist you. If you have specific research needs in Manuscripts, Folklife Archives and University Archives, an e-mail or phone call a few days in advance allows the archivist to prepare for your visit. If you are interested in seeing artifacts not on exhibit, an appointment with the museum registrar is necessary. If you have specific research questions, we strongly recommend that you contact us prior to your visit in order to make the best use of your time.

Now we invite you to come through our doors and explore Kentucky.
