Explanatory Notes
The following compilation lists the WKU Libraries
serial publications holdings in the natural sciences, mathematics,
agriculture, computer science, geography, environmental sciences,
and engineering & technology. Closely related areas are
covered—e.g., architecture, the teaching of science
subjects, and environmental law—but it does not
include health sciences-related and more distantly-oriented
titles (e.g., in area studies) except insofar as these may
have direct relevance to the other fields mentioned. Apart
from the fact that U. S. Government publications are only
very selectively represented, very nearly all other titles
(whether or not currently received) are included.
There are three sub-lists. The first consists
of titles from the general serial literature: professional
journals, proceedings, yearly reviews, newsletters, e-journals,
and the like. The second lists those services available through
WKU Libraries that provide full-text of articles from natural
and applied science-oriented journals (it is unfortunately
no longer possible to keep track of the hundreds of individual
journal titles involved). The third sub-list itemizes serial
abstracts, indexes and bibliographies, including WKU Libraries-supported
electronic resources.
For more specific information on currently
received titles (e.g., detailed holdings, where indexed, and
bindery notices), consult TOPCAT2000.
The following symbols should be noted:
[ ] Holdings for each entry—sometimes
in more than one format and/or location, separated by semi-colons
are contained within brackets. Where useful, holdings are
identified both as to volume numbers and dates. Full-text
electronic sources have no holdings information, as these
are typically difficult to reliably assess.
< > Denotes locations other than the serials
stacks and shelves in Helm 2 (unless preceded by an asterisk;
see below). Electronic journals are denoted: <WWW electronic>.
Consult a librarian for more precise information on locations.
* Denotes entries including pre-1990 volumes
that are shelved in Room 100 in Helm.

regarding alternate titles, name changes, continuations, acronyms,
minor title alterations, institutional identity, etc.
