The
Contemporary Music Genres Collection
Introduction
University Libraries
is pleased to announce "The Contemporary Music Genres Collection," our
new music CD series showcasing popular music styles. This service will
make available to the WKU community CDs of outstanding popular music works
from roughly the time of the emergence of the Beatles (1964) on, keying
on those acts that have made, or are making, lasting contributions to
their art. The focus will be on acts falling outside the mainstream of
commercialism; nevertheless, our growing stable of titles will feature
the very best material from the finest acts in their respective genres,
extending from contemporary folk, bluegrass and new age to international
music, rock, blues and crossover styles. Meanwhile, we will be continuing
to add classical music and traditional jazz and folk titles to our regular
CD collection.
Like the other CDs
in the University Libraries collection, the new series is physically
located in the Visual and Performing Arts Library on the second floor of the Cravens Library, where individual
items can be charged and held for up to a week (renewals are also possible,
as with the other CDs). As new titles arrive they will be added to the
CD Accession List, which also features some
brief comments on each item to provide context. Enjoy!

CD Accession List.
