Educational Resources Center Services
Ellison Machine
The Ellison machine is used to cut shapes out of any material which can be cut by scissors. A large number of dies are available for use. Decorations, bulletin boards, and student manipulatives are some of the uses of materials made with the Ellison machine. If you haven't used the Ellison machine before, please ask a staff member to show you how. There are a couple of tips which make it easier to use and prevent wear and tear.
Laminating Services
Ed Center staff will laminate materials up to 28" wide for students, staff, and faculty. There is a charge for this service. Laminated materials are generally ready the next business day.
Photocopying Services
Two photocopiers are located in the ERC for patron use. Both will take coins, one will take $1.00 bills. No change is available in the building. Departmental copying can be taken to the Copy Center on the first floor of Tate Page Hall.
Poster Printer/Label Maker
The Poster Printer will create a 23" x 31" or 17" x 22" poster from an 8-1/2" x 11" copy. A variety of color options are available. The Label Maker will create labels which can be adhered to most surfaces, in letters up to 2" in size. There is a charge for these services.
Reference Assistance
ERC staff will answer reference or informational questions! Ask at the circulation desk if you are having difficulty finding an item, or if you need help with your research. Most of the time during the weekday and on Monday and Tuesday evenings, full-time staff are available to assist you; other evening and weekend hours are staffed with student assistants.
Research Instruction
Upon request of the instructor, the Ed Center Coordinator will give a general orientation to the Ed Center, or will teach a class how to use the reference materials, CD-ROM indexes, and other materials available in the ERC. Sessions can be tailored to meet the research needs of the particular class.
