Collection Development

About Collection Development

The selection of materials to meet current and future needs of Western Kentucky University's faculty, staff, and students as well as the local citizenry is a critical service element in the Libraries' mission and is the very core of collection development. The specific curricular and disciplinary priorities for selecting and acquiring materials are set forth in Western Kentucky University Libraries Collection Development Statement that was adopted in Fall 1992.

The Collection Development Program is coordinated by Jack Montgomery, Collection Services Coordinator.

Departmental library representatives and liaison librarians have copies of the collection development statement. It is available for perusal in the Reference Center of the library as well.
