AIDSearch
is a combination of three database files (MEDLINE AIDS/HIV Subset,

The Child Abuse, Child Welfare, & Adoption Database includes
citations and abstracts of articles on the maltreatment, safety,
permanency and well-being of children. Updated annually, the
database contains citations and abstracts since 1965 of English-language
books, journal articles, research reports, conference papers,
unpublished papers, as well as descriptions of service programs
and prevention and treatment strategies originating from U.S.
research and service programs.

Booklist is a 100-year-old journal published by the American Library Association which contains reviews of new books. Booklist Online is both a free Web site and a subscription database. The free site offers a generous selection of Booklist content—plus some Web-only features—and is updated daily or weekly, depending on the portion of the site. GeoRef
indexes over 3,000 journals, as well as a number of books, maps,
theses, reports, and conference papers in mineralogy, soil science,
geologic time, crystallography, limnology, and other geology
topics. North American geology is indexed from 1785 to the present;
the rest of the world is indexed from 1933.
Social
Services Abstracts indexes articles in social work, human services,
and related areas, including social welfare, social policy,
and community development. The database abstracts and indexes
over 1,406 serials publications and includes abstracts of journal
articles and dissertations, and citations to book reviews.
Sociological
Abstracts abstracts and indexes articles from over 1,809
serials publications, books, book chapters, dissertations, and
conference papers in sociology and related social and behavioral
sciences. Since 2001, many records also include cited references
from the source article.
PILOTS,
produced by the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder,
includes citations to all literature on post-traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) and other mental-health sequelae of traumatic
events, without disciplinary, linguistic, or geographical limitations,
while offering both current and retrospective coverage. Document
types covered include journals, books, book chapters, pamphlets,
technical reports, and materials in all languages. This database

Dance In Video is a searchable database containing streaming video files of dance productions and documentaries by influential performers and companies of the 20th century. Selections cover ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance. Videos can be browsed by people, role, ensemble, genre, and venue. Material types include documentaries, editorials, instructional, interviews, and performances. Dissertations and Theses Full Text indexes doctoral dissertations and master's theses from over 1,000 North American graduate schools and European universities from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to the present. Citations for dissertations published after 1980 also include 350- word abstracts written by the author, and for master's theses after 1988 include 150-word abstracts. EDGAR (available from Securities & Exchange Commission or LexisNexis Academic) includes submissions and forms which companies are required by law to file with the SEC. Includes the annual report on Form 10-K or 10-KSB, which contains much of the same information found in annual reports to shareholders. The site maintains publicly available filings submitted from January 1994 to the present. EDGAR filings are posted to this site 24 hours after the date of filing. ERIC indexes and abstracts journals and documents in the field of education from 1966 to the present. ERIC also provides full-text access to approximately 80% of ERIC documents (items with an ED [document] number, NOT an EJ [journal] number) published since 1997; documents with an ED number published between 1966 and 1998 are available in microfiche in the Periodicals section on the 2nd floor of the Helm Building. Documents with an ED number include research reports, association publications, conference proceedings, teaching guides, instructional materials, professional development materials, bibliographies, etc. Although ERIC does not provide access to full-text journal articles, the version of ERIC that is found in EBSCOhost does link to some journal articles. The Biography and Genealogy Master Index is a comprehensive index to more than 11 million biographical sketches in over 3000 volumes and editions of current and retrospective reference books, covering both contemporary and historical figures throughout the world. The Times Digital Archive contains the complete digital edition of The Times (London) from 1785 to 1985. Naxos Music Library is a comprehensive collection of online classical music. It includes the complete Naxos, Marco Polo and Dacapo catalogues of over 85,000 tracks, including Classical music, Jazz, World, Folk and Chinese music. Naxos also includes notes on the works being played as well as biographical information on composers and artists. Global
Newsbank provides access to news articles covering
politics, economics, culture, business, science, technology,
and the environment from Africa, Asia, Europe, the former Soviet
Union, the Pacific Rim, Central and South America, and the Middle
East. All articles are in English and are from over 1000 translated
broadcasts, news agency transmissions, wire services, newspapers,
magazines and government documents.
America's
Newspapers, the Lexington Herald-Leader,
and the Louisville Courier-Journal all provide
complete full-text content of local and regional news, including
community events, schools, politics, government policies, cultural
activities, local companies, state industries, and people in
the community. Paid advertisements and funeral notices are excluded.
The Courier-Journal goes back to December 7,
2001, and the Herald-Leader is available from
1983 to the present.

SciFinder Scholar provides access to Chemical Abstracts and to MedLine. Documents indexed in Chemical Abstracts includes articles from over 9,000 journals, patents, conference proceedings, dissertations, technical reports, and books in the field of Chemistry from 1907 to the present. Chemical Abstracts also covers chemistry-related information in the fields of biology, engineering, and medicine. MedLine covers biomedical literature from over 3,900 journals, 1958 to the present.
SciFinder Scholar is not web-based product, and can only be accessed on specific computers. The database is currently available in Helm-Cravens Reference on computers 5-12 (the ones that are against the wall of the reference room by the elevator). To get to SciFinder Scholar on these computers, use the {Start} button. Access is limited to one simultaneous user.Searchasaurus is an animated interface with a dinosaur theme that encourages students to enhance and develop basic search methodologies. The interface searches the EBSCOhost databases Primary Search and Middle SearchPlus. Results can be limited by Lexile reading level. Tales Online is a database of folktales, fairytales, myths of indigenous peoples, legends, sagas, and fables of world cultures in collections. All of the texts and notes are exact duplication of the original and no attempt has been made to either alter the style or wording contained in the original collection. TEST (Transfer Evaluation System) TEST at its core is a database containing millions of course descriptions. The database contains complete course details, including course code, course title, description and number of credits. TEST includes a suite of tools that automate and streamline transfer course evaluation. With TEST you can easily email course description data to staff/faculty. The free services include "Ask Value Line" and the "Economic Calendar This Month" (the latter with events that will impact the market this month) under the Feature Articles section; and a Markets Center with stock quotes. WKU also subscribes to restricted information and advice on approximately 1,700 stocks, more than 90 industries, the stock market, and the economy. The Television News Archive collection at Vanderbilt University is the world's most extensive and complete archive of television news. The collection holds more than 30,000 individual network evening news broadcasts from the major U.S. national broadcast networks: ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN, and more than 9,000 hours of special news-related programming including ABC's Nightline since 1989. These special reports and periodic news broadcasts cover presidential press conferences and political campaign coverage, and national and international events such as the Watergate hearings, the plight of American hostages in Iran, the Persian Gulf war, and the terrorist attack on the United States on September 11, 2001.
