AGRICOLA provides citations to articles in the field of agriculture. Subjects include food and nutrition, agricultural economics, and parasitology.

Alt-Press Watch (ProQuest)

Alt-Press Watch has full text of over 170 alternative and independent newspapers, magazines and journals.

Amazing Animals of the World

Part of the Grolier Online service, Amazing Animals contains information on 1,200 animals for grades 2 and above.

CHID Online (The Combined Health Information Database)
CHID Online provides titles, abstracts, and availability information for health information and health education resources, many of which are not indexed elsewhere. Updated quarterly.

Indexing for over 1,200 nursing journals and publications dating back to 1982, with 613 journals available full text.

Combined Kentucky Adult Ed. Resources & LINCS
Combined Kentucky Adult Ed. Resources & LINCS contain materials on adult education. LINCS is a national database of resources collected by all adult educators and family literacy people all over the US. The Kentucky Adult Ed. Resources database consists of materials from Kentucky selected by adult educators. Resouces include websites, curriculum guides, recommended reading, and lesson plans. The two databases can be searched together at the same time.

Country Studies (Library of Congress)
The Country Studies Series describes and analyzes historical setting and the social, cultural, economic, political, and national security systems and institutions of 102 countries.

Current Law Journal Content (Washington & Lee Law School)
Current Law Journal Content indexes 1,336 journals law and legal journals. Tables of contents are available via the website, e-mail, and RSS feed. You can also create a profile to run stored searches in CLJC weekly for new listings.

Directory of Open-Access Journals
The Directory of Open-Access Journals contains the full text of academic peer-reviewed journals that do not charge subscription fees.

EDGAR Database of Corporate Filings (Securities & Exchange Commission)
EDGAR contains submissions and forms since 1994 which companies are required by law to file with the SEC, including annual reports on Form 10-K or 10-KSB. Submissions are posted within 24 hours of filing.

Encyclopedia Americana (Grolier)

Encylopedia available through Grolier Online with in-depth information for older students and adults.

ERIC (EBSCOhost)

ERIC indexes and abstracts journals in the field of education since 1966. ERIC also abstracts Documents (which use an ED number), including research reports, association publications, conference proceedings, teaching guides, instructional materials, professional development materials, bibliographies. Most ERIC Documents since 1997 are available full text; older documents are available in microfiche on the 2nd floor of Helm Library. Links are available to some of the journal articles.

FindArticles
FindArticles is a free database of interdisciplinary magazine and journal articles. Constantly updated, it contains articles dating back to 1998 from more than 300 magazines and journals.

FirstGov (President's Management Council)
FirstGov allows users to research government information and conduct government business online - such as applying for student loans, tracking Social Security benefits, comparing Medicare options and administering government grants and contracts.

HighWire contains free full text for 362 journals in the life sciences, along with indexing and abstracting for all journals in MEDLINE. Articles that are not free may be purchased with a credit card. The database contains cited references (with free links to the full text of the articles), along with citation analysis of journals on HighWire. Receive Table of Contents email updates with free registration.

Health Source Consumer (EBSCOhost)

Health Source: Consumer Edition contains indexing and full text of pamphlets and journal articles specifically geared to the general public.

HLAS Online (Handbook of Latin American Studies)
HLAS Online indexes and annotates over 5,000 works on Latin America published since 1935. Edited by the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress, the Handbook alternates annually between the social sciences and the humanities. Updated monthly.

IngentaConnect
IngentaConnect indexes articles from over 26,000 magazines and journals. Searching and browsing are free.
Articles that are not free may be purchased with a credit card. Receive Table of Contents email updates from up to five journals with free registration.

Journalism & Mass Communications Abstracts
Journalism & Mass Communications Abstracts, formerly Journalism Abstracts, includes abstracts of dissertations and theses accepted for graduate degrees. Prepared by student authors, the abstracts represent research theses. Database does not include abstracts of creative projects done to complete the graduate degree.

Kentuckiana Digital Library
The Kentuckiana Digital Library contains historical materials specific to Kentucky, including archival finding aids, photographs, sound recordings, diaries, and letters held by special collections and archives throughout Kentucky.

The Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) gateway searches 20 online catalogs from Kentucky libraries, as well as providing access to 34 research databases. Libraries include Western Kentucky University, Warren County Public Library, and Bowling Green Technical College (included in the Kentucky Community & Technical College catalog).

Lexi-PAL Drug Guide (EBSCOhost)

Included in Health Source Consumer (EBSCO), Lexi-PAL Drug Guide provides patient information pamphlets for over 1,000 generic medications, 100 natural products and 19 vaccines.

LINCS (National Institute for Literacy)

LINCS is a national database of Internet resources designed for use by adult educators and specialists in family literacy. contain materials on adult education. The Kentucky Adult Education Resources database consists of materials from Kentucky selected by adult educators. Resouces include websites, curriculum guides, recommended reading, and lesson plans. The two databases can be searched together at the same time.

Library, Information Science, & Technology Abstracts (EBSCOhost)
Library, Information Science, & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) indexes more than 600 periodicals, plus books, research reports, and proceedings since the mid-1960s. Topics include librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, and information management.

MAS Ultra School Edition (EBSCOhost)

MAS Ultra School Edition contains full text of nearly 500 popular, high school magazines. All full text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). Full text is available for 88,000 biographies and 60,000 primary source documents. The database contains more than 540 pamphlets, nearly 150 reference books (including the Columbia Encyclopedia, the CIA World Fact Book and World Almanac + Book of Facts), an Image Collection of 91,000 photos, maps + flags, color PDF and expanded full text backfiles (back to 1975) for key magazines.

MasterFILE Premier (EBSCOhost)

This comprehensive, general periodical database provides access to information on a broad range of topics including general interest, business, consumer health, general science and multicultural titles. This database also contains full text for 433 reference books, 84,074 biographies, 86,135 primary source documents, and an Image Collection of 107,135 photos, maps & flags. Designed specifically for the public library.

MEDLINE indexes and abstracts articles about medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the healthcare system, and the preclinical sciences from 1966 to present.

Middle Search Plus (EBSCOhost)

Middle Search? Plus, designed specifically for middle school libraries, contains full text for more than 140 popular, middle school magazines. All full text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). Full text is also available for biographies, historical essays and student pamphlets. Additionally, Middle Search Plus contains primary source documents including Essential Documents in American History, reference books including the Funk + Wagnall's New Encyclopedia and American Heritage? Dictionary, 4th Edition from Houghton Mifflin, the Encyclopedia of Animals and an Image Collection. This database is designed to assist middle and junior high school students in learning how to research current events. This database can be accessed via Searchasaurus, EBSCO's search experience for elementary-to-middle school-age users.

National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse & Neglect Information
The Clearinghouse is a national resource for professionals seeking information on the prevention, identification, and treatment of child abuse and neglect and related child welfare issues.

New Book of Knowledge

Newspaper Source (EBSCOhost)

This database provides selected full text coverage for 245 newspapers, newswires and other sources, including USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, The Times (London), The Toronto Star, etc. The database also contains selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers, including The Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune, The Detroit Free Press, The Miami Herald, The New York Daily News, The San Jose Mercury News, etc. In addition, full text television & radio news transcripts are provided from CBS News, FOX News, NPR, etc. Also includes local business news coverage of The Lexington Herald-Leader, Messenger-Inquirer (Owensboro, KY), and the Paducah Sun.

NLM Gateway (National Library of Medicine)
NLM Gateway provides access to the following U.S. National Library of Medicine databases: MEDLINE/PubMed, OLDMEDLINE, LOCATORplus, AIDS Meetings, HSR Meetings, HSRProj, MEDLINEplus and DIRLINE. MEDLINE/PubMed provides journal citations for medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences back to 1966. OLDMEDLINE provides MEDLINE references from 1958 to 1965. LOCATORplus is the catalog of the U.S. National Library of Medicine book, serials, and audiovisual materials. AIDS Meetings is a database of conference proceedings on AIDS. HSR Meetings and HSRProj are two health services research databases. MEDLINEplus is an index covering health information for the layman. Finally, DIRLINE is a directory of medical libraries in the U.S.

NoveList

NoveList allows readers to enter favorite author or title and find works that are the same subject or are similar. NoveList also allows users to enter words that describe the contents of a book they would like to read and retrieves titles that contain these words in the book's subject headings field. Users can also browse over 1000 theme-oriented booklists, award-lists and fiction related web-sites.

Occupational Outlook Handbook (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)
The Occupational Outlook Handbook describes what workers do on the job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and expected job prospects in over 250 occupations. You can search by occupation, browse through various categories (Sales, Service, Mechanics, etc.), or browse the alphabetical listing of jobs in the A-Z Index on the page.

Online Geographical Bibliography (American Geographical Society Library)
Online Geographical Bibliography (GEOBIB) is a searchable online database of all bibliographic entries found in Current geographical publications, from 1985-present.

Primary Search (EBSCOhost)

Designed for elementary schools and children's reading rooms. Primary Search Online covers a wide range of general interest topics. This database can be accessed via Searchasaurus, which is EBSCO's unique search experience designed specifically for elementary-to-middle school-age users. Additionally, Primary Search includes the Encyclopedia of Animals, and features the Funk + Wagnall's New Encyclopedia, which provides students with easy-to-read encyclopedic entries written specifically for kids. This database also provides the American Heritage Children's Dictionary, 3rd Edition from Houghton Mifflin, and an Image Collection of 91,000 photos, maps and flags. Psychology + Behavioral Sciences Collection (EBSCOhost)

The Psychology + Behavioral Sciences Collection is a comprehensive database with nearly 470 full text titles. This database covers information concerning topics in emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry + psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods. Can be searched independently, but also allows users to link to the full text from citations located in PsycINFO.

PubMed Central (Full-Text Journals)
PubMed Central is a digital archive of full-text life sciences journal literature managed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM).

RAND Abstracts
Use RAND Abstracts to search for reports that detail the research of RAND Corporation, a nonprofit institution that helps improve public policy through research and analysis. The library has selected RAND reports through 2002.

Regional Business News (EBSCOhost)

Regional Business News provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications. Regional Business News incorporates coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States. This database is updated on a daily basis.

Searchasaurus

Searchasaurus is an animated interface with a dinosaur theme that encourages students to enhance and develop basic search methodologies. The interface searches the following EBSCOhost databases: Academic Search Premier American Heritage Children's Dictionary EBSCO Animals ERIC Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia Middle Search Plus Newspaper Source Primary Search databases. Results can be limited by Lexile reading level.

This current events database allows researchers to explore social, political & economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics discussed in today’s classrooms including controversial opinions and viewpoints.

University of Kentucky Electronic Theses and Dissertations (UK-EDT)
UK-ETD provides worldwide access to electronic theses and dissertations prepared and submitted by University of Kentucky graduate and doctoral students. The database includes all disciplines with graduate or doctoral programs at the University of Kentucky from 2000 to the present which were published as electronic documents.

U.S. Census Bureau
The U.S. Census Bureau serves as the leading source of quality data about the Nation's people and economy.
