On April 12, WKU hosted a reception for Dennis Moore, Public Affairs Officer, of the Canadian Consulate General in Detroit. Invited guests included members of the WKU Canadian Studies Committee including Dr. James Baker (History), Chair. Moore discussed opportunities for Canadian Studies grants. Following the luncheon, Moore presented Dr. Brian E. Coutts, Head, Department of Library Public Services and liaison for the Canadian Studies program, with a check for $2,000 to assist WKU in the acquisition of library materials that support teaching and research in Canadian Studies. This is the fourth grant received by WKU Libraries. Following the presentation, Mr. Moore did a behind the scenes tour of the Kentucky Building, the Felts House, and the Joe Dudley Downing exhibition. ~Brian Coutts
Ex officio:
Recently, President Gary Ransdell appointed Barry Bray, Gary Broady, Debi Jordan, and Johna Rodgers to three-year terms on the Kentucky Museum Advisory Council. Five current members were re-appointed to serve a second three-year term. They are: Kevin Kirby, Cheri Natcher, Whayne Priest, Anna Senter, and John Settle. These appointees join Connie Allen, Eddy Barber, Ray Buckberry, David Cole, Wilmer Cooksey, Carl Dobson, John Grider, Pamela Kielty, Martha Lloyd, Jerry Martin, Julius Rather, and Roiann Ridley who are also currently serving on this Council, along with ex officio Mike Binder, Earlene Chelf, Riley Handy, Tom Hiles, and Robbin Taylor. Western Kentucky University is indebted to the individuals who willingly share their time and talents on behalf of The Kentucky Museum. A special word of appreciation is extended also to Jerry Cohron, Sarah Glenn Grise, Carl Hall, Rick Kelley, Bob Otto, and Ferris Van Meter who recently left the Council.
