WST Minutes

Members Present: Bryan Carson, Jonathan Jeffrey, Rosemary Meszaros, Donna Parker, Sandy Staebell, and Haiwang Yuan

1. Haiwang reported that he had created or updated the following pages:
   • The Southern Kentucky Festival of Books: http://www.sokybookfest.org (created)
   • The National Library Week 2000: http://www.wku.edu/Library/NLW00 (created)
   • Kentucky Information in Cyberspace: http://www.wku.edu/Library/KIIC (updated)
   • Asian Studies Minor http://www.wku.edu/Library/AsianStudies/ (created)
2. Haiwang briefed WST on the latest development of TIP:
   • The template is changed so that it looks more professional
   • The footer is changed, giving credit to the Dean who conceived the idea of the infogateway
   • Per our brainstorming and based on Bryan's suggestion, the Dean and Haiwang came up with this "TIP" idea - Topper InfoPortal. For that reason, the directory of TIP was changed to the current: www.wku.edu/Library/tip from www.wku.edu/infogateway.
3. WST members went over their evaluation of web sites for the TIP and finalized the selection.
4. WST suggested that a category of "Education." be added in addition to "Teaching Materials" and "Financial Aids and Scholarships."
5. WST members had evaluated the web pages linked from TIP prio the meeting. The assignments were as follows:
   • Bryan -- Aid & Scholarships, Antiques & Collectibles, Art & Culture, Autos
   • Rose -- Bowling Green, Facts & Resources, Finance & Trading, Health
   • Jonathan -- Grants & Funding, Genealogy, Government & Law, History
   • Rosemary -- Home Life & Gardening, Job Finding, Kentucky Information, Kids,Teens & Parents
   • Donna -- Libraries & Museums, Magazine, News, Recreation & Sports
   • Sandy -- Science & Technology, Senior Citizen Sites, Shopping, Teaching Materials
   • Haiwang -- Travel, Weather, Web Directories, Education (as it is being developed)
6. WST tentatively set the date for the release of TIP by the coming National Library Week, April 9 - 15.
