Date: February 13, 2001

Location:

Members Present: Rose Davis, Sean Kinder, Lynn Niedermeier, Donna Parker, Sandy Staebell, and Haiwang Yuans

Announcement: Haiwang welcomed new members Sean Kinder from the DLPS and Lynn Niedermeier from the DLSC.

Haiwang appointed an Ad Hoc Task Force to work on the National Library Week Web page. Sean as Chair of the NLW Committee will chair this Ad Hoc group with the members of the NLW committee and Haiwang as ex-officio.

Review of Web Publishing Policies and Procedures: Haiwang reviewed the various categories of the UL Web site. Each member will be responsible for overseeing the sections related to their expertise with the assistance of subject librarians and other staff members (see attachment).

WST reviewed its "Web Publishing Policies, Procedures and Guidelines" and reiterated the statement "Department heads are responsible for the content of their department home page and area librarians are responsible for the content of their area pages."

Update the UL Web Site:

The content pages - WST decides to update all the contents of the UL Web site. Haiwang will present the update proposal to the CLDH and the Dean before sending a library wide e-mail announcing the move and explaining the aforementioned procedures . The specific updating steps include, (1) WST members will print pages and ask respective librarians to review the subject content and suggest updates; and (2) the WST members will make the changes on the Web site.

The Index page - once all content pages have been updated, the Library Index page will be updated, following these steps: (1) items in the Index will be divided among the WST members for review; (2) Haiwang will provide each WST member with a master list; (3) WST members will mark the items in their respective area of responsibility and check the links, etc.; and (4) the master lists will be turned in to Haiwang, who then will check all items not marked by one of the WST members.

The timeline - The goal is to have all content update done by the first of April and Index update done by the end of May.

Reports from Team members: The Southern Kentucky Festival of Books has 143 authors registered as of this WST meeting. Haiwang has 140 biographies on the Web. The Team viewed the pages posted so far.

Sandy reported on updates made to the Special Events pages, the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society Web site, and the virtual Library and Museum being developed by DLSC.

A Graduate student is scanning items for the project. CLDH has asked Haiwang to work with someone in Wetherby to pursue purchase of a server needed for this project.

Donna reported that the Kentucky Women Artists, 1850-1970, Web site has 40-50 women artists biographies and images. She will soon be posting the Artist in Residence program.

Sandy offered to take digital pictures at the Used Book Sale for Haiwang to put up on the Southern Kentucky Festival of Books Web site.

Training: WST agreed that more training on Dreamweaver, a Web-authoring tool, is needed. The planned training sessions will include all library personnel who are interested and will be offered in the Libraries by Haiwang in the following couple of weeks. Team members expressed interest in a workshop on managing the Web site files. Haiwang will schedule these training sessions and notify Team members and others.

For the WST,

Rose Davis and Haiwang Yuan
