he National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's cultural resources worthy of preservation. The National Register, administered by the Secretary of the Interior, includes districts, sites, buildings, structures, and objects that are significant in American history, architecture, archeology, engineering, and culture. These resources contribute to an understanding of the historical and cultural foundations of the Nation. To be eligible for listing a site must have been associated with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad pattern of our history; associated with the lives of persons significant in our past; or must have embodied the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction or represent a work of a master, or that possesses high artistic values, or that represent a significant and distinguishable entity whose components may lack individual distinction. (National Park Service. The National Register of Historic Places. Washington, D.C.: Government Printing Office, 1983. [INT-417])
Warren Countians are proud of their heritage and are honored when properties in their communities are entered in the National Register. To date there are over 80 entries for Warren County in the National Register that may be categorized as residences, churches, Brinton B. Davis Thematic Scheme at WKU, and districts.
