Welcome!

For 24 years, students from throughout Kentucky and the region have come to learn and do journalism at Western Kentucky University.

These students have shown an interest in journalism and came to the workshops with backgrounds under-represented in U.S. newsrooms. Some lacked the financial resources to attend journalism workshops.

The 2008 Xposure High School Journalism Workshop — June 8-19 —hosted by the School of Journalism & Broadcasting at WKU will continue that tradition. The alumni of these workshops fill newsrooms throughout the country, helping to ensure that the news gatherers at media outlets mirror the diverse communities they serve.

In 2007, the Xposure workshop gave 15 students from Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Iowa a first-hand look at the media business and the skills and tools to produce a top-notch newspaper while on campus. And two students received a scholarship to Western Kentucky University based on their work and leadership during the workshop.

The Limited Edition newspaper — a trademark of the workshop — features news, commentary, reviews and photos on a variety of topics. It is the culmination of workshop activities and students at the workshop produce it. You can find issues of the paper and more on this Web site.
