STUDENT EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION

If you are not currently employed through Western Kentucky University's Student Employment Program, complete the following application.  Submit the application by clicking on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the application..


If you were employed this previous semester and plan to return to that same position, it is not necessary to complete this application.

Types of employment available include:

  Employment on campus in various departments
  Employment off campus with a Community Service Agency
  Employment off campus through the America Reads Program


Normally, student employees work 15-20 hours per week (although employment for fewer hours may be available.) Also, student employees are typically paid $5.15 per hour.



Student Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule for the actual hours worked. A student will not receive pay for hours worked until all required paperwork is complete.





After your Application for Student Employment has been processed, you will receive a Student Referral Slip and a current Job Vacancy List. The Student Referral Slip will indicate your eligibility amount for employment under the Federal College Work Study and/or Institutional Work Program(s). The Job Vacancy List provides a list of current job vacancies for which you may apply. You may also check job vacancies on our web site at: http://www.wku.edu/finaid/StuEmpl/job.htm.



You should review the positions on the Job Vacancy List taking into consideration the job description and required skills as well as the required number of hours per week.


Apply only to the jobs that meet your qualifications.



To be considered for employment with a Community Service Agency or under the America Reads Program, you must qualify for Federal College Work Study.



To be considered for employment on campus you can qualify for either Federal College Work Study or Institutional Work. (Your program of eligibility will be indicated on your Student Referral Slip.)
