GRANTS
Grants are “free money” that is not paid back. There are various grant programs each of which is need based and is determined by the EFC number (expected family contribution) in the upper right portion of the Student Aid Report (SAR).
Remember, to be eligible for grants:

Students must be admitted into a degree program and not have received a bachelor's degree. |

Must file a FAFSA application each year. |
 |
Some awards are made on a first-come, first-serve basis, based on the application date on the FAFSA, until funding is depleted. |
COLLEGE ACCESS PROGRAM (CAP)
The CAP is a state awarded grant. The amount awarded per academic year, can change from year to year. To see the current rate, or find more information, visit the Kheaa website (click on the link below), and click on KHEAA programs. CAP grants are based on household size and income. To qualify for this grant a student must be a Kentucky resident. He or she must also have filed a FAFSA form by the priority filing deadline of April 1, and be enrolled at least half-time in a degree program.
PELL GRANT
The Federal Pell Grant is Federally funded and awarded to undergraduate students (those who have not received their first bachelor's degree) with exceptional financial need. Pell Grant awards range from $400 to $4,050 per academic year, and are available to either full or part-time students, pro-rated based on enrolled hours.
FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT (SEOG)
SEOG Grants are federally funded and awarded by the University to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need. Students must be enrolled a minimum of 6 hours.
