Minimum Requirements

Getting Started

Apply for Admission

Obtain Official Transcript from each college attended:

Students transferring from other accredited colleges should request that official transcripts be mailed to the Office of
Admissions from each college attended. An official transcript is typically sent from one institution to another in a
sealed envelope for the receiving institution to open upon arrival.

How Will My Credits Transfer?

View Transfer Credit Equivalencies

In order to provide more accurate information and better service to prospective transfer students, an unofficial transcript
which will reflect any updated transfer articulation will be made available (usually within 10 working days) after admitted
to the University.  This is done to help ensure that all official transcripts are received and evaluated properly and that
the transfer student is admitted to the University.  You may view your transfer articulation along with any updated
transfer information online at http://topnet.wku.edu.

Transfers from Nonregionally Accredited Institutions

WKU accepts credit from other institutions if the institutions have met the accrediting standards of the appropriate
regional accreditation association.  Students who have previously earned course credit from a non-regionally
accredited institution may petition for recognition of that credit.  Consideration will be given to courses whose content
suggests competencies at least equivalent to courses offered by WKU.  For further information please click here
(downloadable PDF).

Explanation of Transfer Articulation

Once your courses have been articulated, if you have questions as to why a course has a specific WKU equivalency,
please click here to view an explanation of your transfer articulation.

Petition WKU Departments for Transfer Credit Equivalencies

In cases when there is not a specific WKU course equivalency (or an exact equivalency has not been determined), you
may petition WKU departments if you believe a course should be equivalent to a WKU course.  You should request
the department head to complete the Request for Transfer Equivalency Form available on the iCAP website at
www.wku.edu/icap; if the transferred course is either equivalent to a WKU course or will be accepted in lieu of a WK
course.

U.Select

Transfer students have the ability to view course equivalency guides, academic programs, courses offered, transfer
course evaluations, and degree audit reporting in a web environment known as u.Select (formerly Course Applicability
System
).  Access u.Select

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your transfer policy?

Credits earned at other regionally accredited American institutions of higher education may be transferred to WKU and
applied toward a degree. The "Transfer Credit Practices" report published by the American Association of Collegiate
Registrars and Admissions Officers will be the reference used for the evaluation of such credits.

All credit is recorded in semester hours. Plus and minus grades will be recorded as the letter grade only.

What if I attended a non-regionally accredited institution?

WKU accepts credit from other institutions if the institutions have met the accrediting standards of the appropriate
regional accreditation association. Students who previously earned course credit from a non-regionally accredited
institution may petition for recognition of that credit. Consideration will be given to courses whose content suggests
competencies at least equivalent to courses offered by WKU. For further information please click here.

How can I find out about how my courses will transfer?

To apply to the University, we need official transcripts from all institutions previously attended. An official transcript is
typically sent from one institution to another in a sealed envelope for the receiving institution to open upon arrival. We
do not accept copies of official transcripts, only the official transcript.

In order to provide more accurate information and better service, prospective transfer students will receive an evaluation
of transfer credit after they are admitted to the University. This is done to help ensure that all transcripts are evaluated
properly and that the transfer student is admitted to the University.

Upon receipt of your application and official transcripts, we will be glad to provide you with an evaluation of your transfe
credits. You may view your unofficial WKU transfer report on TOPNET at http://topnet.wku.edu/ approximately 3 weeks
after we receive all official documentation.
