  Chemistry Placement Exams

If you use Internet Explorer or any other web browser other than Mozilla Firefox, you will not be able to view the exam problems correctly.  You will score lower on this exam and will NOT be allowed to retake it.  Please read the Terms of Use BEFORE clicking "I Agree".

Not reading the TERMS OF USE will result in a lower placement score than you might have received otherwise. Please read the following information thoroughly before clicking "I AGREE".

  1. The Algebra Placement Exam is required for any WKU main campus or Glasgow Regional Campus student who intends to take Math 116 (College Algebra) or a higher-level math course.
  2. Only admitted WKU students can take this exam.
  3. You must take your own exam.
  4. You are only allowed to take the Algebra Exam and the Trig Exam one time, so your first attempt will be your permanent score. These exams are used only for placement and not for college credit.
  5. You must provide your correct first and last name, last four digits of your social security number, and your WKU ID number (it begins with 800). This information may also be found at www.topnet.wku.edu. Click on Look Up WKU ID.
  6. You must complete and submit your exam in 30 minutes or less. For each additional minute over 32 minutes, one point will be deducted from your total score.
  7. The score received, following adjustment for exceeding the time limit (if necessary), is your official placement score. Your official placement score, in conjunction with the math portion of your ACT or SAT test, will determine your placement in the appropriate math course.
  8. The Trigonometry Placement Exam is required for any WKU main campus or Glasgow Regional Campus student whose majors require a calculus course and who hope to enroll in either Math 122 or Math 126 as their first math class.
  9. Using any other web browser than Mozilla Firefox for the placement exam will result in math problems being displayed incorrectly.
  10. Students must have high-speed internet.
  11. Students must complete this exam by 10:00 p.m. Central Time 4 business days before orientation in order to register for math.

By clicking "I Agree", I acknowledge that I have read the terms of use and agree to their conditions.

I understand that failure to comply with these conditions will result in a permanent math placement exam score of zero on my record.
