The Academic Transitions Program is an orientation designed to help new students successfully prepare for their first semester at WKU. During freshmen orientation, new students meet their advisor, register for classes, meet the dean of their college, participate in informative sessions, get their WKU ID Card and more. All freshmen are required to attend this one-day orientation.
New transfer students are required to complete an online transfer student orientation. For more information, contact the Office of New Student Orientation at 270-745-4242 or email orientation@wku.edu. ** Transfer orientation dates will be made available in early March 2009.
Registration for Freshmen Orientation
Reservations must be made by 7:00 a.m. at least four business days in advance. For example, if your orientation is on a Tuesday, you must register by 7:00 a.m. on the previous Thursday. If your orientation is on a Thursday, you must register by 7:00 a.m. on the previous Monday.
Register today by following these steps:
- Take the online Math Placement Exam. This placement exam is required before students are allowed to register for a math course. Please take this exam as soon as possible. The exam deadline is 7:00 a.m. four business days prior to the orientation date. Note: Community College students are not required to take the Math Placement Exam. Community College students may take the Accuplacer Exam during orientation or in advance at BGCC. Call 270-780-2550 for more information. CLICK HERE to begin the exam
- You will need your student identification #, which is located on the address label of your admissions materials.
- You will need your TopNet PIN. If this is your first time in TopNet, your PIN is the last six digits of your social security number. You will be prompted to choose a new PIN immediately. If you have forgotten your previously changed PIN click "forgot PIN."
- Please have a Visa, MasterCard or Discover card available when registering for the program. There is a non-refundable fee of $45/student and $6/guest, which covers a continental breakfast, buffet lunch, and all materials. Space is limited, so register online today! Once dates are filled they are no longer viewable online.

Only students attending WKU Main Campus and Bowling Green Community College of WKU attend the Main Campus Academic Transitions Program. Glasgow campus students attend orientation at the Glasgow Campus. Call 270-659-6969 or go to www.wku.edu/glasgow/orientation to reserve your date if you are admitted to the Glasgow campus. You must have your 800# and credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover) available. Your 800# is listed on the address label of your invitation letter. If this is your first time on TopNet, your PIN is the last 6 digits of your Social Security #. You will be required to choose a new PIN#.
Note: The Freshmen Academic Transitions Program is a 1-day program, and students must participate throughout the entire day to be registered for classes. Students who arrive late or leave early will be required to reschedule for another date.
