Steve & Margaret Eaton
A former Hilltopper student-athlete and 1972 alumnus is once again giving
back to his alma mater in
support of the men’s basketball program.
Steve and Margaret Eaton of Atlanta, recently made a gift of $150,000
to Western. Of that gift, $100,000 will support the Men’s Basketball
Enhancement Fund, and $50,000 will be used to create an endowed scholarship
for Hilltopper Basketball.
This gift will complement the $75,000 gift for
the Basketball Enhancement Fund that the Eatons
made in August 2000, with an additional $50,000 given to the Gordon
Ford College of Business.
"Western has a great tradition," Eaton said. "Margaret
and I are particularly excited by the dynamic growth and progress of
Western over the last few years under the leadership of President Gary
Ransdell and we wanted to be part of that. Obviously, our hearts are
close to Hilltopper basketball and Coach Horn, and we believe it is
important for the program to have the financial viability necessary
to attract quality student athletes. Hilltopper basketball is one of
several areas in which Western demonstrates national prominence."
