Carol Cummings began her career at Western Kentucky University in 1997 as Director of Development for the University Libraries and the Kentucky Museum at WKU.  Prior to moving to WKU, Carol had served for five years as Director of Allocations and Agency Relations and a member of the Campaign Staff at the United Way of Southern Kentucky.  With the creation of a new division at WKU, Carol was able to combine her love of fund raising with her first love:  writing.

Carol currently serves as Manager of Development Communication at Western Kentucky University.  In her role at WKU, Carol serves as co-editor of the SPIRIT alumni magazine; writes and designs all major gift proposals; writes, edits, and coordinates design for all fund-raising publications; and writes, edits, and coordinates design for a semi-annual campaign newsletter.  Carol also serves as the divisional liaison for the University website, and she coordinates special projects, such as videos and surveys.

Carol is also a freelance writer and specializes in tourism, religion, education, and the humanities.  Carol is an active volunteer in both the music and children’s programs at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Springfield, Tenn., where her husband, Mike, serves as Pastor.  She graduated from WKU in 1992 with a degree from the nationally recognized School of Journalism and Broadcasting. Carol and Mike have one daughter, Hannah, who is a sophomore in high school.
