Program Information
- Professional Activity - The
Mary R. Nixon Professorship is primarily a teaching professorship
rather than a research professorship.
- Measures of Success - The Nixon
Professorship Fund has helped to enhance the reputation of the
Accounting Program and attract students to Western Kentucky University.
Our program continues to be one of the largest accounting programs
in the commonwealth. Graduates of the accounting program are highly
recruited by regional, national and international employers. Program
graduates also perform well on the national certification examinations.
The accounting faculty seeks to continuously improve the accounting program. Accounting majors are required to complete a senior assessment class in their last semester. A senior assessment exam is administered to all students during the class, and students must achieve a score of at least 70% on the exam. Students who do not earn the minimum score must perform remedial work and take the exam again.
