WKU : Honors College :
Message from director
Craig T. Cobane - Director Thanks for your interest in the University Honors College at WKU. The time you are investing on this website learning about the many reasons you should actively participate in the Honors College is the first step in a life-changing experience.

These are exciting times to be part of the Western experience. The university, along with the Honors College, is going through a great deal of positive change and development. The Honors College currently includes 500-plus students representing nearly every academic facet of the university. Honors students choose from an ever growing list of specialized courses from across the curriculum, where learning is interactive and reasoned dialogue and debate is encouraged. While in the WKU Honors College, students develop an original, year long, six-credit hour Capstone Experience, which is completed in a close collaboration with Western’s outstanding faculty.

Although the academic component is the heart of the program, it is not the only reason to be in the Honors College. Honors students have access to unique field trips/outings, special travel experiences (and funding), many social events and individualized mentoring/advising for prestigious scholarships.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance in your decision to be a part of the WKU Honors College. If you are going to be on campus, ask the Admissions Office to arrange time to visit the Honors College or call us directly (270-745-2081). I look forward to meeting you and working with you to make your academic goals come true.

Craig T. Cobane, Ph.D.
Executive Director, University Honors College, Jarve Professor in Honors
