The Department of Geography and Geology is seeking outstanding high school seniors, potential college freshman, and graduate students for its career-focused Geoscience programs. The Department has a variety of specialized study tracks that can
prepare individuals for exciting, fulfilling, and productive careers. Graduates from the Geography and Geology program are
working as professional geologists, environmental consultants, entrepreneurs, city and regional planners, transportation
managers, college professors, scientists, broadcast meteorologists, lawyers, international businesspeople, managers, National
Park Service personnel, government agents, and many, many more well-paid positions. Research opportunities in the Department's
research centers engage students with a variety of fascinating human-environment issues.

The Department has a variety of applied programs in such areas as Geographic Information Science (GIS), Cave and Karst Studies, Environmental Geology, City and Regional Planning, Global Development, Groundwater Hydrology, and Environmental Research, to name a few. Just click on PROGRAMS OF

both basic and applied research opportunities in the undergraduate and graduate
geoscience programs.
