Yarmouk Curriculum Development Session

October 28 - November 1, 2007

Dr. Pam Johnson, Director of Western Kentucky University’s School of Journalism and Broadcasting, traveled to Jordan to facilitate curriculum development at Yarmouk University. The session is part of an ongoing effort by WKU to help strengthen the capacity of journalists to report on issues of interest and importance.

During the visit, Johnson worked with Yarmouk’s Journalism and Mass Communications Department in the specific areas identified for addition/modification within Yarmouk’s Journalism and Mass Communication courses. The goal is to integrate Yarmouk FM into the relevant courses so student benefit from the new facilities and a real community radio station. The team presented the plan to Yarmouk's president, Professor Mohammed Abu Qudais, who was supportive of all the efforts.

This workshop continues the partnership between WKU and Yarmouk University that has included hands on training and academic exchange undertaken in Jordan and in Bowling Green. It is the culmination of more than 21 months of work.
