Frida,
February 15, 2002 - LAX to Incheon, South Korea
This was the long flight.
We were are opposites sides of the plane
but in
the same row.
K made the mistake by being too kind and let a guy sitting in his
window side stay there. He
took the aisle. I had the
window next to a hip, LA Korean jazz singer.
She was heading to Korea to see her brother. She was very chatting, but funny. My voice was really going now.
She recommended hot tea with lemon, line, honey and ginger.
As a singer, she had to use it a lot.
We slept, talked, watched movies.
It turned out to be rather fun for an 11.5 hour flight.
Finally the lights of Korea. Still
dark, but we landed fine.
Saturday,
February 16, 2002 – Incheon to Jakarta, Indonesia
Dave,
the Korean-American, visiting his missionary Dad in Manchuria, was seated
behind us, so we all piled out and looked to something to do at 6:30 am in
the new Incheon International Airport. Nothing opened until 7 am.
We washed up and waiting, then grabbed a bite a the Transit Hotel
Restaurant. Then we strolled
the length of the terminal looking for a newspaper.
A day off really throws your ability to keep up with the news.
This is what we do and it was a bit hard.
We got Dave to his gate and saw him off.
K did a work out while
I tried to get some sleep. Voice
no better. We found our gate and were soon on board.
The
flight to JAK was good. K and
I were at opposites side again, but I had two seats.
He sat (window) with a Korean photojournalists stationed in JAK.
They had a good talk. Again,
K is really good at this. I
had a good sleep, read my book and watched a movie.
Seven hours later, we landed in JAK.
