Peter Laufer Joins WKU & Internews Journalism Training Project

 

Bowling Green, Ky. – Western Kentucky University and Internews® Networks welcomes Peter Laufer to the International Journalism and Media Management Training Program.  Mr. Laufer joins the collaboration among Western Kentucky University’s Public Broadcasting, Western’s School of Journalism and Broadcasting, the Al-Ahram Regional Press Institute, and Internews, an international non-profit organization that supports open media worldwide. 

Peter Laufer joins the project as the lead trainer for the sessions.  Mr. Laufer is an award-winning journalist and writer.  Faculty from WKU’s School of Journalism and Broadcasting will compliment Mr. Laufer is specific sessions during the Bowling Green sessions.  Currently, Mr. Laufer is working with the program partners to select the first set of journalists, who will participate in the inaugural session scheduled to begin in mid-October.

This 15-month phase is funded by a $1.3 million grant from the United States Agency for International Development with support from Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY).  McConnell recognized the collaborative possibilities of Western and Internews and was instrumental in bringing the partners together and in the continuing support for this program.  To date, the International Journalism and Media Management Training Program has received $3.3 million from USAID.
