1. To log on, dial (745-8888 if calling from off-campus).
2. When asked for your extension...Press if you're calling from your extension, OR
Enter 5-digit extension plus if you're calling from another phone.
3. Enter your password, followed by the key. (After you log in for the first time using
your initial password, the system will ask you to change it to atleast a 5-digit password.)
After you've logged in you will be in the Activity Menu, where you will have four options. These options are:
These options correspond to numbers on your keypad.
This feature lets you check your messages. You can also reply to your messages under this option.
After you choose this option, you will hear the number of new messages you have, followed by a message summary for each message
--i.e. when the message was sent, the length of the message, from what extension the message was sent, and from whom the message was sent
(these message summaries are called headers). Once you hear the headers, you can hear the messages (press ), or listen to the headers again
(press then ). After hearing each message,
you will have the options of responding to/forwarding the message (by pressing ), deleting the message (by pressing *D), or
skipping to the next message (by pressing ).
This option lets you record up to nine different personal greetings.
When you select this option, you will first hear what greetings are being used for what types
of calls. After you hear the greeting status, you can listen to a greeting (press ),
change, create, or delete a greeting (press ), scan all greetings
(press ), activate a greeting (press ), or differentiate call types
for the purpose of activating different greetings for different types of calls (press ).
When you record a greeting, you will have to assign a number to it ( the default Audix systemgreeting is assigned "0"). You can have up to nine greetings stored (numbered 1-9).
As for call differentiation, calls can be differentiated into either internal / external (on campus / off campus), or busy / no answer. This allows you to have different greetings
active for different situations (e.g. with a busy / no answer differentiation, you can have one greeting for people that call you when you're not there and another greeting for when you're
on the phone).
You can only differentiate one way or the other (internal/external or busy/no answer); the system is not set up to do both.
This lets you change your password, and it also lets you record your name for the purpose
of extension identification.
To change your password, press
after you've selected this option. You will be asked to enter your new password and then
you will have to re-enter it for confirmation (Audix will prompt you for the re-entry of
your new password).
Recording your name is somewhat important (though not mandatory), because it is what
identifies your call when you leave a voice message with someone. It is also inserted
into the default Audix system greeting:
"Your call is being answered by Audix. [Recorded Name] is not available. To leave a
message, wait for the tone. Record at the tone."
To record your name, press
after choosing this option.
This option basically screens your messages.
With this options, you can scan the headers and messages by pressing ,
scan headers only by pressing ,
or you can scan just the messages by pressing .
"Scanning" in this case simply means listening to all new headers and/or messages sequentially without
having to choose specific messages (as you have to do in option 2).
