    Most institutional exams are administered by the Counseling and Testing Center. They include the following: 

    American College Test (National Exam)

    This exam is required for admission to WKU and many other colleges and universities. Application packets may be obtained from the WKU Admission’s Office located on the 1 st floor of Potter Hall or by calling 745-2551. For national testing dates and other pertinent information goto the ACT website.

    American College Test (Residual Exam

    The Residual ACT is designed for those wishing to attend WKU and missed the ACT National test dates. It is given various times throughout the year. The cost is $53 (non refundable) and the test is scored and the results given immediately upon completion of the exam. To register online click here.

    Chemistry Placement Exam(CPE)

    The CPE is required for any student seeking enrollment in Chemistry 116 or 120. It is a 55 minute, 60 item, multiple choice exam consisting of Algebra, General Chemical Knowledge and Specific Chemical Knowledge. Calculators are not allowed. To register online click here.

    College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

    CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-exam program in the United States, with more than 2,900 college and universities awarding credit for satisfactory scores on CLEP exams. Since 1967, five million people—adults returning to college, graduating high school seniors, and enrolled college students—have earned college credit through CLEP.

    WKU is an open test center and will test non-WKU students. The testing fee is $60 (effective July 1, 2006) to CLEP via credit card and a non refundable $23 registration fee. Preparation guides and other information is available directly from the CLEP website. A Credit by Exam brochure is available in Room 409 Potter Hall or in Undergraduate Catalog (Page 48). To register online for CLEP click here . Also, WKU has partnered with IStudySmart.com to provide you with online study courses that prepare you to pass the CLEP.

    Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

    The general GRE exam is only offered on computer. Information may be obtained at the GRE website.

    Math Placement Exam (MPE)

    The MPE is required for any student seeking enrollment in any math course. It is a 40 minute multiple choice exam consisting of 25 items. Calculators are not allowed. A study guide can be obtained in Room 409 Potter Hall or call 745-3159. To register online for the MPE click here.

    National Teacher's Exam (NTE/Praxis)

    This exam is required for any student seeking teacher certification in the state of Kentucky. Praxis information bulletins, which contain registration applications and study guides, may be obtained in the Teacher Certification Office on the 4 th floor of Tate Page Hall or in Room 409 Potter Hall. Questions regarding certification guidelines, specific tests needed, or time requirements for completing these exams should be directed to the Teacher Certification Office at 745-4300.     Law School Admissions Test (LSAT)

    LSAT information bulletins may be obtained in the History Department located in Room 210 Cherry Hall or by calling 745-3842. For additional information go the LSAC website.

    Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)

    The MCAT information bulletin may be obtained in Room 409 Potter Hall or by calling 745-3159. For additional information go to the MCAT website.

    National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)

    Information regarding this exam can be obtained at the NBCC website or by calling 336-547-0607.
     
    National Board of Dental Hygiene

    For information regarding this exam contact the Department of Allied Health at 745-3159 or go to the ADA website.

    Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT)

    The PCAT information bulleting may be obtained in Room 409 Potter Hall or by calling 745-3159. For additional information go to the PCAT website.

    DANTES (DSST)

    WKU is an open test center for administering exam, however WKU does not accept credit for DANTES exams. For information regarding DANTES registration e-mail Sharon.Ercey@wku.edu. For additional information about each exam go to the DANTES website.

    Miller Analogies Test (MAT)

    The MAT is a graduate school admissions exam and must be taken if you want to apply to a graduate school that accepts or requires the MAT for admission. For additional information go to the MAT website.

    State Merit Exams
