Asbestos Management Request Description: It is often one of the most difficult tasks to minimize inadvertent disruption of asbestos containing materials during a work activity. To better control this situation, a system requiring all work that disturbs or has the potential to disturb asbestos-containing materials utilize an online “Asbestos Management Request” prior to beginning the work. The Departmental Asbestos Coordinator or Project Manager for the department or employee anticipating the work activity shall complete this request. This will allow sufficient time to complete an asbestos survey and identify the asbestos-containing materials for proper management during the project. The University Asbestos Program Coordinator shall review the request and provide guidance concerning the correct procedure required to manage or abate the asbestos-containing material for a particular project or work activity.
