Asbestos Awareness Training Description:
The training is based on the requirements set forth in 40 CFR 763.92(a), OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101, 401 KAR 58:005, 401 KAR 58:025, and University-specific procedures. Who Should Attend: Regulations require all University workers engaged in maintenance, repair, custodial duties, etc. in a University owned or maintained building complete an initial 2-hour Asbestos Awareness Training within 60 days of employment. Workers who have completed this initial training are required to attend the Asbestos Awareness Refresher Session annually thereafter. It’s recommended anyone interested in an introduction to asbestos hazards attend as well. Offered: Monthly Registration: Registrations shall be submitted by the worker's designated Departmental Asbestos Coordinator. Registration for the 2-hour Asbestos Awareness Session: WKU Environmental Health & Safety-New Employee Safety Training Registration Registration for the Asbestos Awareness Online Refresher Session: WKU Environmental Health & Safety- Refresher Training Registration Note: The completion of the Asbestos Awareness Training described above does not authorize workers to disturb asbestos containing materials by such tasks as drilling, sanding, cutting, chipping or otherwise handling asbestos containing materials that are not intact or will not be kept intact.
