The Kentucky Employees' Retirement System - Hazardous (KERS-H) is the retirement system for commissioned police officers. Employee contribution rate is 8% and the University contribution rate is 18.66% of the member's monthly salary. The normal retirement age is 55 or after 20 years of service, regardless of age. For most employees, retirement income is determined by the following formula:

Years of service times 2.49% times the average salary of the highest five salary years.
