Exit Interviews

Who must attend?

Any student who receives an NDSL/Perkins Loan while attending Western Kentucky University must attend an exit interview.

Why must I attend an exit interview?

The exit interview will cover the important information you should know about your loan. In addition, exit interviews are mandated by federal regulations; schools must conduct them and federal borrowers must attend them. When you accept your student loan you make a legal agreement to attend an exit interview.

When must I attend?

A student must attend an exit interview when they graduate, drop below half-time enrollment, withdraw from Western Kentucky University, or have not paid their fees by the fee payment deadline. Exit interviews are scheduled at several times near the end of each semester.

NOTE: Please arrive on time for your pre-scheduled interview.

How do I pre-schedule my exit interview?

Near the end of the semester you will receive a schedule of available exit interview dates and times. Please contact our office directly at 270.745.2986 to confirm your exit interview time and date preference.

What should I bring to my exit interview?

Please bring a picture identification and a pen with you.

What should I expect?

Each exit interview will last approximately 30-40 minutes. Topics discussed will include: loan repayment plans, deferments, cancellations, and consequences of default.

NOTE: Those who do not attend an exit interview will have their transcript and/or diploma placed on hold.
