GuGuidelines for Good Lighting

    1. Use task lighting with compact flourescent lamps.
    2. Turn off all unneeded lights.
    3. Do not use energy-wasteful halogen floor lamps.
    4. If you have bi-level switching , try turning half your lights off.
    5. If glare on your computer monitor is a problem, try the following:
      1. tilting your monitor down to move the reflection off the screen.
      2. moving or turning the monitor so it does not face a source of glare.
      3. reducing flourescent lighting and shifting to task lighting.
    6. Experiment with window blinds to maximize the use of daylight.
    7. Rely on on overhead flourescent lighting which is energy efficient and should provide adequate illumination.
    8. When repainting office space, always choose a white or off-white color to maximize wall reflectivity and the efficient use of lighting.
