 Vehicle Policy Agreement

 

It is the policy of Western Kentucky University that any person authorized to use or operate a University vehicle will conform with each of the following:

 

1.   No person will be authorized to use a University vehicle without compliance with all

Provisions of  this  policy.  The designated/authorized driver must provide for inspection and copy of a valid Kentucky vehicle operators license prior to operating any University vehicle.  Proof of valid drivers license will be checked periodically.

 

2.   The driver and passenger(s) will comply with all traffic regulations and laws of the state of Kentucky and/or any other state in which the vehicle may be operated, including, but not limited to, all speed limit laws and regulations.

 

3.   The driver will certify that he/she has not been convicted of an offense of operating a

motor vehicle while under the influence of any drugs/alcohol within the last five years.

 

4.   The driver and passenger(s) shall wear/use the appropriate safety belts and restraints at all times when the vehicle is in operation.

 

5.   Only employees of the University and members of duly recognized and registered campus organizations will be permitted to use University vehicles.  The Director of Facilities Management will have the authority to deny the use of any vehicle to any person requesting such use, in his/her discretion.

 

6.   Use of University vehicles will be for the stated purpose of the use only, and no other.

 

7.   In case of emergencies, pertinent information is provided in each vehicle.

 

8. All accidents/incidents involving university vehicles must be reported to the Facilities Management office immediately or as soon as practicable under the circumstances, regardless if any damages have been incurred.

 

9.  Depending on your position with the university, you may be required to obtain a valid Kentucky drivers license.

 

10.  The university will obtain a Motor Vehicle Record check at the beginning of employment and also once a year on all Facilities Management employees listed on our Vehicle Policy Agreement.  MVR checks will be performed by our university police department.
