General Information

Who is considered disabled?

According to section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 173 and Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, an individual is considered disabled when 1) a physical or mental impairment substantially limits one or more life activities; or 2) has a record of such impairment; or 3) is regarded as having such impairment.

How do I register with Student Disability Services? At first contact you will be provided with a registration packet that will assist you in providing Student Disability Services with the needed medical documentation. This documentation must be provided by a licensed professional and should be no more than three years old.

How do I Obtain Informaion regarding Financial Assistance?

Contact the Student Financial Aid Department at (270) 745-2755 for information regarding financial aid. Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact their local Vocational Rehabilitation Office for additional financial assistance.

Temporary Disabilities: Students who are considered temporarily disabled are not eligible for services through OFSDS and are encouraged to talk with their professor or Department Head.

Special Parking-Students with mobility issues that are registered with OFSDS are eligible for special parking permits. An explanation of policies can be viewed on our website or by calling WKU Parking and Transportation at (270) 745-2361
