Assessment in Administrative and Educational Support (AES) Units

Please note that all components of an AES unit’s assessment activities can be summarized and document in an online format.

AES units will develop assessment plans for the current academic year by October 1st. Assessment Plans include:
o Linkage to University Mission and Strategic Goal(s)
      o Unit Mission Statement
o List of services provided by unit
o Administrative Objectives for current year
      o Means of Assessment
      o Criteria for Success
AES unit directors will review assessment plans and discuss with unit personnel as necessary. Each unit director will forward plans to the Chair of the University Outcomes Assessment Committee (UOAC) by November 1st.
The Chair of the UOAC will disseminate  assessment plans to UOAC subcommittees.
UOAC subcommittees will review assessment plans using the UOAC review form for AES Units and provide feedback to units as appropriate by December 1st.
Unit personnel finalize and submit assessment plans for the current academic year by February 1st.
Unit personnel proceed with implementation of the assessment plan including the gathering and processing of assessment data over the appropriate time period.
Unit personnel evaluate and interpret the information obtained through the assessment process and determine appropriate changes.
Unit personnel provide a brief report on the assessment findings that demonstrates how assessment information was used to make decisions regarding their unit’s operations (i.e. how they “closed the loop”). The report should include the observation made, a summary of the data from which the observation came, and the changes in the unit’s operation made based on the observation. The assessment report should be completed by September 15th.
Unit personnel proceed with the implementation of the decision over the appropriate time period.
Unit personnel follow up on the impact of the change and document observable improvements resulting from the change.
