What should my child pack for the camp?

Campers should pack the following:

How much spending money should my child bring?
-
Everything needed in a regular day is provided for in the registration fee. All recreational activities and
even field trip money are included. The only money a student will need is for laundry and miscellaneous
items or snacks he/she may want to purchase from vending machines or at Western's bookstore.
Bringing large sums of money is discouraged!

How can I get in touch with my child?
- MAIL
Please address mail to your child in the following way:
Student's Name
c/o The Center for Gifted Studies
WKU
1906 College Heights Blvd. #71031
Bowling Green, KY 42101-1031
Please do not send any mail to the dorm. Letter writing instead of calling is
encouraged. For some young people, this experience will be the first extended
period away from home, so please write positive, helpful letters that encourage
your child to get the most out of the experience.
- PHONE
In an emergency, you may phone the office 270.745.6323 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (CST),
and a staff member will arrange for your child to phone you. After normal office hours and on weekends,
you may call the front desk at the dormitory, and the desk clerk will see that your child gets
your message. The counselor's phone should not be used as a means of chatting with your child.
If it is your desire that your child phone home periodically, please understand that the campers have
very busy schedules and that they will take turns using the pay phones. In case of an emergency,
it is important that we reach you. If you have an answering machine, please do NOT leave it on all night.
