" Engaging Students: Seeking Quality in a Changing World"

Western Kentucky University has adopted a Quality Enhancement Plan focused on "Engaging Students in a Global Society."  That goal, an excellent one, could also be phrased "...in a global and changing society."  The dynamic character of the world in general and the educational world in particular, presents major challenges for any university.  What kind of learning will have value that endures over time?  What kind of teaching will generate that kind of learning?  What can the university do to promote such teaching more widely across campus?

In this session, I will offer a framework for thought and action by faculty members and campus leaders to consider during their pursuit of excellence and quality at Western Kentucky University.
