Discussion Question:
-Is it better to link 2 or 3 classes or offer some of each?

The rewards of teaching in a learning community and planning/collaborating with other faculty can be tremendously gratifying. For faculty interested in planning together, the cross-disciplinary aspects of the learning community can provide new insights into both their own course and their teaching style preferences.

Advantages for the student include creating of a strong bond among them. They became a support group for each other and a resource to each other. They frequently formed study groups for their courses, enhancing learning. They formed friendships, which is hard for some first semester freshmen (aside from high school buddies) and began to socialize with each other outside of class. In follow up of this group this semester, many have chosen to take more classes together and to continue to see each
other socially. This sense of "connectedness" can only facilitate retention.
