Emergencies:

The WKUPD is just a telephone call away, should the need arise. Officers will respond to your calls for service and advise whether a crime has, or has not, been committed. The officer will also advise about alternate solutions. If a crime has been committed, the officer will take information that will be placed into an official police report, which will be investigated by the Investigative Division of the police department. This information may be submitted to the County Attorney’s Office for an official determination of criminality.

Question: "What procedures should faculty, staff, or students follow upon receipt of a 'Bomb Threat'?"

· Obtain all relevant information from the caller

· Write down all relevant information, especially the time, phone number, and extension

· Immediately contact the Western Kentucky University Police Department at (270) 745-2548 or 911

· Be prepared to answer questions from the police dispatcher, and provide a call back number.

· Consider escorting the police department through common areas in your work location, should the need arise.

· Be alert and aware of strange person(s) and or packages in your areas

· If strange person(s) or circumstances in your area make you suspicious, contact WKUPD.
