Introduction:
Class disruptions have become more prevalent in the last five
years. Nationwide it is believed that this is primarily due
to a different generation of college students who have been
allowed classroom liberties that were not accepted in previous
generations. Teachers need to understand their own anxiety of
being with students, so they do not mishandle upset or angry
students.
The WKUPD makes every effort to work with faculty, staff, and
students to create an atmosphere that is conducive to teaching,
learning, and research. However, policing, by its very nature,
can be restrictive in certain situations. Policing demands that
a safe and secure environment be provided, which implies that
a standard set of guidelines must be followed. Those choosing
not to follow those guidelines tend to have a negative view
of policing as a whole.
