Teaching Activities:

In my class, the discussion guidelines are relatively simple:

A. Students have a minimum of three posting each week - 1 major posting and 2 responses
B. A major posting has to be a minimum of 200 words.
C. Responses are comments made on other students= postings and are at least 75 words.
D. A major posting begins a new thread and can be on anything covered by the week=s readings, lesson materials, or Web search.
E. Major postings cannot be just emotional responses or idle comments but have a significant intellectual component that demonstrates agreement, disagreement or struggle with the week=s lesson.
F. Students should expect differences of opinions and handle those differences as intellectual debate and not personal attacks.
G. Definite forums are not established by the Instructor. In other words the Instructor does not provide a list of questions or topics to discuss. This is left as open as possible. At times some direction may be provided to ensure a particular aspect of the lesson is discussed, but normally forums are left up to the students.
