Resources:
What resources (books, webpages, people) are available
to WKU faculty concerning this issue?
WKU Counseling and Testing Center (5-3159)
Potter 409. Sharon Ercey. They have about 6 computers (which
limits how many can take the test simultaneously). They limit
students to about an hour per test so that others can get in.
Distance Education/Office of Correspondence Study
(5-4158) Garrett 105. Beth Laves. (http://www.wku.edu/reachu/All/html/ExamInfo.htm).
This will lead the student to the list of Testing Centers available
internationally. Some Centers provide an Internet connection
and computer for testing, but not all do so you must have a
paper copy of your exam available to send them well in advance
of the test date. This office will take care of informing all
participating Centers of your password to the test or of getting
them a print copy once you get the print copy to Correspondence
Studies. There may be a charge of up to $50 for a student to
take a test elsewhere. (WKU doesn’t charge it’s
own students). There is also often a limit for how long a student
has to take a test.
Shawn Brewer (5-8834) provides
training on Blackboard assessment tools. Visit http://atech.wku.edu/workshop/
to sign up for a workshop.
Blackboard Quiz Generator (http://www.wc.cc.va.us/services/blackboard/)
Invaluable tool. Set up your test in their simple format, enter
into the generator and you get a zip file you upload to BB as
a pool of items. Do pay attention to spacing and returns or
your items will be distorted. See Shawn (above) for training
to minimize mistakes).
