Learning Outcomes:

Effective management of behavior makes the classroom a more pleasant space for you, for the other students and for the target student. It enables the class to focus on the stated learning objectives for the course instead of on their own emotional or safety needs. It enables you to concentrate on providing learning experiences and content. Behavior management is a prerequisite for successful teaching.

However, effective management of behavior depends on a correct evaluation of the causes or contributions to the problem and then appropriately matching a level of intervention with the problem. While this is part “art”, there are general principles that can help you more effectively assess the problem situation.
