Retention Techniques :

International students are statistically less likely to drop out than American students. They are generally more mature, more career focused, etc. However, they tend to transfer between American universities. Anything which would build a sense of loyalty to WKU or to your department may be helpful toward retention.

Internationals respond to the same elements of faculty caring that American students do, but in the current strained political climate following the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, it would be wise to go out of your way to be supportive in class lectures and discussions and to be even more diligent than usual to avoid nationalistic or religious or racial stereotyping.
