"What do you see as the issues and challenges facing the Gen X student?"
"What do you see as the issues and challenges in teaching the Gen X student?"

Generation X presents with significant issues and challenges as identified in the following negative stereotypes:

  • Entitled to easy success and good grades -little motivation to work to achieve success.
  • Blame teachers of the system for failure
  • Don't trust authority
  • Slackers, lazy
  • Don't read the book or take notes
  • Don't see the need for buying the book
  • Rude, blunt, cynical, skeptical
  • Won't attend class unless points are deducted for absences
  • Disengaged, short attention span
  • Complainers, whiners
  • Less respectful of rules and established policies
  • Filled with self-esteem but bereft of knowledge
  • Lack a solid moral foundation, right and wrong are relative, everythingdepends of the situation
  • Ambiguous "whatever" attitude
  • Self-focused, crave attention
  • Cheated or victimized if "I" don't get what "I" want
